Each week, students and their partners spend an hour in the pool for exercise, games, and friendship. These sessions are oriented toward improving body and coordination skills, developing community, and most importantly having fun in the water! Through mutually beneficial relationships, participants gain a greater sense of connection with others and strength within themselves. SLiCE Adaptive Swim is intended for participants with physical and/or intellectual developmental disabilities.
Volunteers are supported by a strong, tight-knit community among their peers and are challenged in new ways by developing relationships across difference and engaging in weekly educational reflections. Volunteers and participants alike come to expect opportunities for growth, community, and a fun, rewarding experience.
