Alternative Break

[vc_row el_class=”intro-copy”][vc_column][vc_message message_box_color=”warning”]Colorado State University is closely monitoring and following COVID-19 guidance as outlined by public health experts.

Due to safety concerns related to COVID-19, Alternative Break travel has been suspended.[/vc_message][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”30366″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][heading text=”Current Status of Alternative Breaks – 2021 – 2022 Academic Year”][vc_column_text]SLiCE is committed to providing programming that directly reflects our Mission, Vision and Values Statement (seen below/or we could link the homepage?).  We are taking time during the long wake of the pandemic to critically examine our programming – including the Alternative Breaks Program  – to ensure that is the case.  As a result, this long-standing tradition will be on pause as we explore and reimagine the ways that SLiCE’s Service-Learning experiences can and should be conducted. Explicitly, we intend to double down on Alt Breaks’s commitment to critical examination of root causes, authentic and mutually beneficial relationships, and fostering civic engagement for all participants.   Stay tuned, and keep checking back for updates.[/vc_column_text][heading text=”SLiCE Engagement Programs: Alternative Break” subtext=”What are you doing for your break?”][vc_column_text]The Alternative Break program is an immersion experience into different cultural, environmental and socioeconomic communities across the nation. Participants provide service in exchange for education about current social and cultural issues facing the host communities.  Participants travel for one week during school breaks (spring, winter) and volunteer for nonprofit and government agencies across the country and world. A terrific opportunity to learn about social issues and meet other students with the same passions.

Boosted grant funding available – up to 65% of your trip![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][heading text=”Participate in Alternative Breaks” align=”center”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][servicebox icon=”fa-send” contents=”Each Alternative Break focuses on a critical social issue.
